On Saturday, October 20 2007,
local families walked to raise funds to support cardiac centers
for the very young. The three-mile walk began at 9 a.m. at the Taylor
Pavilion & Boardwalk in Belmar and ended at noon.
One in 100 babies will be born
with some kind of heart defect, said Event Coordinator Lynn
Ramsay, of Brielle, the mother of two-year old Joseph, who has survived
heart surgery at Childrens Hospital of Philadelphia to correct
several heart defects. The Big Hearts to Little Hearts walk
is a way for local New Jersey shore families to pitch in and help
raise funds to support cardiac centers that treat the areas
smallest heart patients. We are grateful so many walkers are making
an effort to help the many concerned medical and research professionals
who have helped us.
More than 200 people
walkers helped raise $40,000.
